Set Variance Thresholds

  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Select the Admin tab.
  4. Click Thresholds in the Ribbon Menu. A Thresholds window displays with a collapsed view of your project's WBS hierarchy.
  5. Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed. Click Expand in the Ribbon Menu to view the entire hierarchy or click the + sign to expand the hierarchy to the level where you want to set the thresholds.
  6. Select the desired WBS element in the hierarchy.
  7. Click the Apply To All Children check box when you want the thresholds to also apply to the children of the element.

    Tip:

To set thresholds for the entire WBS hierarchy, select the level 1 WBS element and click the Apply To All Children check box.

  8. Select the Conditional Operand option from the dropdown. An AND condition means the variance condition must exceed both dollar and percent thresholds. An OR condition means the variance condition exceeds either the dollar or percent threshold.
  9. Set the applicable schedule and cost variance threshold parameters. To set a threshold range for total dollars, enter the negative value in the Minimum field and the positive value in the Maximum field. To set a negative and positive percent range, drag the sliders to the applicable percent value.
  10. Repeat Steps 6 through 9 as needed for the elements in the WBS.
